To help communities around the world to strengthen their resilience, fundraising and other approaches to local resourcing are essential tools to start and sustain local resilience-building activities and to encourage further investment from local government and the private sector.

1. The Kenyan Red Cross, in collaboration with KCB bank, Safaricom, and M-Pesa, implemented a very successful fundraising campaign called ‘Kenyans for Kenya’ to support drought relief in 2011-12. The innovative campaign included a variety of activities to solicit support from Kenyan corporate donors in Nairobi and Mombasa as well as from the public throughout Kenya.
